    Kids Rewards Bingo using Happy Planner Student Planner Pages

    My godson loves video games.  Loves them!  Maybe a little too much.  And I would love for him to stop playing them so much. I’ve tried to use the video games as a privilege for doing well in school and at home.  But he still tends to get too much screen time.  So I was trying to think of a way to reward him for doing good in school and at home, limiting the use of the video games. I was watching a YouTube video where someone was repurposing the planner pages of a Happy Planner Student Planner, and I thought I would be able to do the same and…

    Classroom Pencil Sharpener Review

    **Disclaimer:  I was not paid for this review.  I was gifted a pencil sharpener to use.  The opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links. Being a teacher, especially a math teacher, I know the importance of having a good pencil sharpener in the classroom.  Too many times, I’ve been supplied “cheap” pencil sharpeners that have the life expectancy of an ant.  Well maybe, a little longer than an ant.  But, you get my point! The pencil sharpeners that are usually supplied by the school are not the greatest.  They don’t last long.  They’re noisy.  And they have a huge appetite for pencils, gnawing on them until there’s nothing…

    Lose the Cape! (A Book Review)

    I had the pleasure of participating in a book review.  Now the funny thing is, this book is all about parenting.  And I am not a mother.  Not biologically, anyway.  I have been assisting in raising my godson since he was six months old, so I thought why not give the book a try.  I must say that I was very pleased, informed and entertained. Lose the Cape!  Never Will I Ever (and then I had Kids!) is a great compilation by editors Alexa Bigwarfe and Kerry Rivera.  Alexa is a freelance writer and mother of three who blogs at No Holding Back.  And Kerry is a full-time working mom of three who…

    Most Popular Dream Jobs

    I was watching a television show called Masterminds.  It is a show about criminals who have pulled off some of the most amazing crimes.  The episode was about a man who continuously presented himself as a medical doctor.  He used false credentials to get jobs as a physician.  Yet, he kept getting caught and going to prison.  While in prison he would still refer to himself as a doctor, and all the inmates would call him ‘Doc’.  He used his prison stays to study medicine and medical procedures.  So every time that he was released for good behavior, he would go back to being an impostor. He went too far…

    Father’s Day Q&A with Daddy

    I am so blessed to still have my father in my life.  Several people  my age no longer have their father.  But God has blessed my daddy to be here for 64 years now.  And although I may not show it all the time, I am very grateful that he is still around. Father’s Day is fast approaching this weekend.  My brothers and I haven’t quite decided what to get our daddy yet.  He is one of the hardest people to shop for.  But I’m sure we will think of something special for him. I thought it would be cool and interesting to do a Q&A with him for Father’s…

    DVD Review: Tangled {Guest Post}

    A few weeks ago, I did a post about deceptive content in children’s movies and television shows.  I talked about some disturbing content that children are exposed to.  That post referenced a program that focused on several Disney films.  Today, this guest post by Janice Wald who blogs at Reflections, will provide a more positive perspective on a Disney favorite.  Be sure to stop by Janice’s blog to learn more about her.  See her information below.   DVD Review:  Tangled The title of the movie Tangled could well indeed refer to more than the main character Rapunzel’s hair.  Disney has “tangled” the plot of the Rapunzel fairy tale by having the handsome…

    A Child Awaits Jesus

    I had the most interesting conversation with my godson. Godson:  Meka, you know Jesus is coming real soon. Me:  Yes, He is.  That means we have to get ourselves together so that we will be ready when He comes.  So that we can go to heaven.  We have to do the things that God wants us to do. Godson:  I can’t wait for Him to come back.  I want to go to heaven.  No one should want to go to hell.  You know what I think,  I think that when Jesus comes back, He’s going to stretch out his arm from the sky.  And we’re going to walk up His…
