    National Love Note Day 💕

    September 26, 2018 /

    Today is National Love Note Day! What better day to express your love to your family and friends?!  To those who have supported you and assisted you.  To those who have prayed for you and cared for you.  Today, I have decided to write a love note to myself.  Why not?!  I love me! It isn’t something that we consider often, but we should consistently express the love that we have for ourselves.  It is by loving ourselves that we become content with ourselves.  Content with our flaws, content with our shortcomings.  By loving ourselves, we learn to respect ourselves more, and demand that same respect from others.  We gain…

    How to Have a Great Cookout

    July 3, 2015 /

    Cookouts are very popular around the holidays and summertime.  Having a cookout can be a lot of fun, especially with family and friends around.  But it can also be a headache considering preparation and the flow of the event.  But there are some things that you can do to ensure that you don’t have a stressful one. Oh Brother…and Brother!

    April 10, 2015 /

    Today is National Siblings Day!   God gave me two brothers, no sisters.  And made me the middle child.   It has been hard competing with the first born and the baby.  My brothers and I have always been close.  But we do have conflicts just like any other siblings.  We have had our fair share of fights, and did our fair share of pranks as well. Once when we were kids, they decided to pull one of their pranks on me.  My mom had gone to work that day and hadn’t combed my hair as usual.  So there was no ponytail, just my hair loose on my head.  My brothers…

    “Take A Look, It’s In A Book”

    April 2, 2015 /

    ….A Reading Rainbow Today is International Children’s Book Day Reading is essential to a child’s learning.  So it is vital that a child is capable of reading.  The sad thing is that so many children today are not reading at the correct reading level.  Reading to children and encouraging children to read daily, if only for 15 minutes, will produce great results.   Reading is not only required in English and Language Arts classes.  It is necessary in science, social studies, math and most other subjects.  If a child cannot read, they will struggle in all of their course studies. Oh, how I loved the show, Reading Rainbow as a…

    Cooking with Fractions {Free Printable}

    March 30, 2015 /

    Is your child struggling with learning fractions?  Many students do.  Sometimes, fractions are kryptonite for students.  They just don’t like them.  But I’ve found that the more practice they have with fractions, the easier the concept is for them to understand. During the first year that I taught, my students struggled with fractions.  This made it difficult to teach other Algebra concepts to them.  So I decided to do an activity to improve their understanding of fractions. I did a Cooking with Fractions day.  I had all the students bring in a recipe.  And I created ‘grocery bags’ with special ingredients.  Each brown bag contained two food items with a…
