Pumpkin Roundup 2018 #1: Drinks
It is officially fall, which means it is officially pumpkin season. That’s right, time for pumpkin everything. Pumpkin coffee, pumpkin cereal, pumpkin sandwiches, pumpkin pajamas. You name it! It’s been some years since my last pumpkin roundup, so I decided to do another one this year. In my pumpkin roundup, I feature some very pumpkiny recipes. I showcase the recipes over a few week, listing them in different categories. The first category is drinks. Now, I personally, can only consume pumpkin in a quick bread. No way else. But I thought that you all would like to explore pumpkin in all its forms, starting with something to quench your thirst.…

Beignets in the Bayou
This past weekend was a great action-packed, spirit-filled weekend. I attended the Southwest Region Conference Annual Singles Enrichment Weekend. This year the event was hosted by Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We had a great time all weekend. But we couldn’t dare leave the state without some authentic beignets. Beignets are deep-fried pastries, similar to funnel cake, but more sophisticated. And definitely, not as oily. We found a coffee shop near the hotel, Coffee Call, and decided to enjoy some beignets before traveling home. These lovely pillows of fried dough were served hot with a heaping of powdered sugar. The coffee shop offers regular sized…

How I Keep Warm On A Cold Day
Due to the change in season, we are experiencing colder weather and some rainy days. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a fan of the cold. I am constantly cold as it is, so cold weather only makes it worse for me. What is cool temperature for others may actually be freezing for me. Living in San Antonio, I don’t have to really experience severe winters like those in the northern states. But cold weather does make its appearance. So I do have to deal with it at times. There are a few things that I can do to make it as comfortable as possible for me.…

Refreshing Summer Drinks
Well, summer is here!! And the warmer weather has arrived also. So everyone is in search of a tasty way to quench their thirst during the summer months. I have been looking for some new and refreshing summer drinks to try. I may have found what I’m looking for on Food Network. Here is a look at just a few of the drinks that are of interest to me: 1. Looking for a twist on iced tea? Try this Peach Ginger Tea. It is made with, of course, canned peaches and grated ginger. 2. Or maybe you need a pick me up protein punch? Try a Fruity Protein Shake. Purée…

Choco Berry Breakfast
Yesterday, my older brother made a trip to Teavana to purchase some tea. He called me to see if I wanted anything. Well, of course, it’s Teavana!! They are having their end of season clearance sale…. up to 75% off tea. I had him pick up the Wonderberry Chocolate Truffle Tea for me. It is a blend of several berries, vanilla and cocoa. I decided to brew a cup this morning. I only needed to use 1/2 teaspoon of the tea, and steeped it for 4-4.5 minutes (although it only says 3 minutes). I like a bold flavor. There was a nice combination of the berries and chocolate, making the flavor very balanced. …

‘Drop’ In For Tea
While scrolling through my Google+ feed yesterday, I came across something so unique and innovative: +Teadrops . They are cute little drops of instant tea. Just add hot water and stir. How amazing is that?! photo courtesy of Teadrops You can order Tea Drops on their website in an 8 count box. The only flavor available at this time is Cardamom Spice, but more are soon to come. I must try these drops, if for no other reason than they are adorable and interesting.

Tea Time
Many people start their day with a cup of coffee. Some can’t make it through the day without it. But….I have never enjoyed the taste of coffee. Ever. I always thought that it tasted dirty; hot, dirty water. People are amazed that I don’t drink it. “Have you tried it with this or with that?” “Have you tried it cold?” “You just haven’t gotten coffee at the right place.” They just don’t understand. At one of my former work places, there was a Starbucks in the building. The employees asked me one day why I never ordered coffee; I would usually order a Tazoberry and Cream (unfortunately, they…
